Equine Programs

Time with horses teaches things that are hard to teach any other way: calm, patience, clear boundaries, quiet confidence.

Mountain Stone Equine: Developed by Youth, for Youth

Mountain Stone Equine empowers Indigenous youth through horsemanship, traditional teachings, and land-based leadership. Founded by Gracie Crawler-Jackson and Lita Crawler of Mînî Thnî, each group learns to build trust and communication with horses while exploring cultural teachings through horse painting, drumming, and storytelling.

MSE's program is theirs; the Foundation's role is to hold the space around it, contributing the land, horses, coordination, and funding that help it reach more young people.

Equine Connection Sessions

Equine Connection provides space for individuals facing personal or financial barriers to reconnect with themselves, building emotional regulation, confidence, and self-awareness. Sessions are facilitated by our faculty members certified in Equine Assisted Learning, and offered at a sliding scale of cost thanks to our generous donors.

“It's like the horses know when I need grounding; they step in quietly, and only look to me for support when I have the capacity to offer it.”

Rooted in Research: You Cannot Fake Calm Around a Horse

Horses are prey animals, attuned to body language, energy, and intention.

Research on equine-supported and nature-based programming finds benefits for emotional awareness, self-regulation, trust, and confidence, particularly for young people facing barriers.

Horses do not care what is on your report card. They care whether you show up.
